Don't Inhale

Brad and I went to San Francisco on Friday night to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. We went to a seafood restaurant and the food awesome! First, we got calamari. When the waitress set it on the table, we ate all of it an probably less than 3 minutes. We are so used to inhaling our food that we had to tell ourselves to slow down. Usually with two kids, we just eat as fast as we can before, during or after the kids have their meals, so we didn't quite know what to do with ourselves when we're alone at dinner. After the calamari, we ordered our dinner and since the waitress highly recommended the crab cakes, we decided to get those as well...even though we already had an appetizer. The waitress even asked us after we ordered "How hungry are you guys?" I think she wanted to know if we were really going to be able to eat all of the food we ordered! So, when the crab cakes came, there were only two on the plate and I think it took us less than 2 minutes to inhale those as well. For the main course, I ordered halibut and Brad got filet mignon and even after two appetizers, none of the food went to waste. To top it all off, we got an espresso creme brulee for dessert and it was fabulous.

Ok, so we splurged a little, but to make up for it we walked all over the city and I was wearing heals! I should have known to wear flats, but I think I was trying to look cute especially because we don't get out alone too much :-)

Anyway, next time we just have to remember that it's ok to take our time eating when we don't have the kids around. Don't inhale.

  1. Happy Anniversary! I totally get the inhaling. I also get the heels. It's so funny, we went to Spanish Bay for our anniversary and I could barley walk to the car after (um, that's not even a far walk). Crap, what has motherhood done to us???
