A Special Mommy Moment

Lexxa was sitting quietly at the table coloring tonight and she brought me this special picture. It's Mommy and Lexxa. She said I could take it to work with me. These are the moments that melt your heart.

The picture is a little blurry, but you get the point :-)

The "To-Do" List(s)

Written last night:

It's 9:50pm and I'm sitting here on my Blackberry making lists of things that need to get done or that I would like to get done. I have this memo pad on my phone and its full of little notes which include work stuff. Why is it that you think of so many things you have to do at work when you're at home? And why are you too busy to think about those same things while you're at work?

I find that I have a bunch of lists at work: a task list in Outlook, a group project list on my whiteboard, a list of things to do today in my notebook, a list of things to ask my boss about when I get around to it, a department project list saved on our shared drive, a list in my small notebook, a list of things that need to get done for a specific project...and the list of lists goes on! Maybe I should put it on my list to consolidate all of my lists...it seems so simple, but it's just not. And no matter how you look at it, the list will never end.

I should be thankful that I have a job and it keeps me busy!

I'm a Big Kid Now!

I can't believe that my little girl just turned 4 this past weekend. It's crazy to me how fast the time flies because I feel like it was just yesterday that I found out that I was pregnant with her. But anyway, enough of the sentimental stuff--Lexxa had quite a busy birthday weekend.

First, we had her birthday party at Pump It Up in Morgan Hill. Everyone seemed to have had a great time. There are so many reasons that it's great to have a party at Pump It Up...let me give you a few:

1. Adults can also jump in the bouncy houses and play on the slides and obstacle courses. This makes it fun for everyone. It's a pretty good workout too, I might add.
2. The party coordinators help with setting up everything for you. This includes balloons, decorations, cake, plates etc.
3. The party lasts for only two hours.
4. The party coordinators also clean everything up...including loading presents and leftovers into your car so that you can still say goodbye to your guests!

I would definitely have a birthday party there again.

After her birthday party, we had another party to go to for her cousin Bella's birthday (her actual birthday was on the 31st). We took her other cousin Jada with us and it was very hot outside! Luckily, they had an inflatable pool/slide for the kids to play in. They could stay cool by getting wet. After that we came home and everyone was exhausted. The same night, my parents came over for a "birthday dinner" with Lexxa. Unfortunately, she didn't join us for dinner because when she started to eat, she was so tired that she almost fell asleep in her food. Brad would have let her so that he could get it on video, but I would let him :-)

On Sunday, Uncle David and Angela (David's girlfriend) took Lexxa to the batting cages as part of her birthday present. Angela just got her a new bat and helmet so she was ready to go! They got back from the batting cages and we had some time to relax and hang out until they took her to a San Jose Giants game that evening. She was a little nervous to go to the game, but she ended up having a really good time. She wasn't too sure about their mascot and she couldn't stop talking about him, but she got over being so scared. I'm sure it helped that she got to eat pizza, churros, ice cream--and they even had a jumpy house there!

So, she had a fun filled and exhausting weekend. To top it all off, she started preschool (or Kinder Readiness they call it) on Tuesday. She got to go with her cousin Sofia and she had a great time. But, I guess all of the activities caught up to her because she got sick and didn't get to make it to school on her second day. Hopefully this does not indicate how the rest of the school year will be for her!
